Meet Angela Conley, Intern
Welcome in. I’m Angela, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Northwest EMDR Therapy. I believe there are times in life when we simply need a safe place to land, somewhere we can set down what we have been carrying and feel genuinely heard.
Before beginning my journey as a counselor, I spent nearly two decades working in healthcare, supporting people through illness, uncertainty, and some of life’s more difficult seasons. Those experiences taught me the importance of listening with compassion, honoring each person’s story, and recognizing the connection between what we experience emotionally and how we move through the world.
In our work together, you don’t need to have everything figured out or even know exactly where to begin. We can start wherever you are. My hope is to create a warm, accepting space where you feel safe enough to be yourself, explore what you are experiencing, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and discover what you need as you move forward.
I enjoy working with adults, children, and adolescents, navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship and family concerns, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and difficult or overwhelming experiences. I am especially interested in trauma-informed care and understanding how our experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, connect with others, and move through the world.
Whatever brings you through the door, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
“Trust yourself. You’ve survived a lot and you’ll survive whatever is coming.”
— Robert Tew
My Approach
My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic techniques that help incorporate body awareness, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness. I believe mental health is deeply connected to our bodies, and developing awareness of how we experience emotions, stress, and relationships physically can be an important additional part of healing and growth.
