Meet Davy Gillespie, Intern
Hi! I’m Davy Gillespie, and I’m honored to be a counselor here at Northwest EMDR. I strive to provide trauma-informed care in a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative environment. Above all, my goal is to create a healing space that feels safe, respectful, and empowering—one where we can gently explore patterns and behaviors together and work toward discovering your most authentic self. Using a person-centered approach, I support clients in cultivating self-love, confidence, and greater self-awareness as they learn to make meaning of their life experiences in ways that promote growth and healing.
“Changing the memories that form the way we see ourselves also changes the way we view others.”
— Francine Shapiro, developer of EMDR
My Approach
As an intern counselor, I work under the supervision of licensed clinicians while completing my Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate degree at The Chicago School. I am passionate about integrating somatic and attachment-informed perspectives to help clients better understand how trauma and life experiences are held in the body and nervous system. As a military veteran who has served multiple combat tours, I bring both clinical training and lived experience in working with trauma, moral injury, and the unique challenges faced by service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders. I also have experience supporting individuals navigating religious trauma and the effects of institutional harm.
As a father of three, I deeply value the role of family systems, attachment, and generational healing. I recognize how trauma can ripple through relationships and parenting, and I am committed to helping clients reconnect with a sense of safety, resilience, and personal agency in their lives.
